Program

Day 1: Kutaisi – Borjomi – Vardzia – Rabat

  • Arrival in Kutaisi
  • Lunch break
  • Departure towards Borjomi, a short walk in the spa park and tasting the world-famous Borjomi water
  • Visit the rock city of Vardzia, founded during the reign of Queen Tamar (12th-13th century), which could accommodate up to 50,000 inhabitants at that time
  • Visit the Rabat fortress, dinner and overnight at the hotel in Akhaltsikhe

Day 2: Akhaltshikhe – Gyumri – Yerevan

  • After breakfast, departure towards Yerevan
  • On the way a short stop in Gyumri
  • Hotel accommodation in Yerevan and city tour: Vernissage, Republic Square, Cascades
  • Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Yerevan

Day 3: Yerevan – Khor Virap – Areni – Noravank – Yerevan

  • After breakfast, departure to Khor Virap – an extraordinary monastery overlooking Ararat, the place where Gregory the Illuminator was imprisoned
  • Wine tasting in Areni – the most famous wine center in Armenia, where you will be able to taste the famous pomegranate wine
  • Visit the picturesquely situated Noravank Monastery
  • Return to Yerevan for dinner and overnight

Day 4: Yerevan – Garni – Gherard – Yerevan 

  • After breakfast, visit to the Genocide museum – the tragic history of the Armenian slaughter
  • Transfer to the Garni temple – it is a monument of the Hellenistic period and an impressive piece of ancient Armenian architecture
  • Visit the nearby Gherard monastery, entered on the UNESCO list
  • Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay

Day 5: Yerevan – Sevan – Tbilisi

  • After breakfast, departure towards Lake Sevan – the largest alpine lake in the world, which is located 70 km north of Yerevan – covers 5% of Armenia’s territory. The lake is located at 2000 m above sea level
  • Drive towards Georgia, cross the border and drive to Tbilisi
  • Dinner at the restaurant, free time
  • Overnight stay at a hotel

Day 6: Tbilisi  – Mtskheta – Tbilisi city tour

  • After breakfast, visit the monastery of Jvari and Mtskheta – the capital of Georgia until the 5th century and temple of Svetitskhoveli there – the place of coronation and burial of Georgian kings 
  • Lunch and return to Tbilisi
  • City tour – explore the old town, Sioni Cathedral and Anchiskhati Basilica, cable car to the Narikala fortress with a wonderful panoramic view of the city, walk to the waterfall located in the city center, in the district of sulphur baths. You will see and feel how past and present are co-living in this amazing city 
  • Dinner in a famous restaurant, combined with a show of traditional Georgian dances
  • Return to the hotel

Day 7: Tbilisi – Sighnaghi – Bodbe –  Supra – Tbilisi

  • After breakfast, departure to Kakheti – a land known for its wine production and unique medieval heritage. Drive to the steppes in the south of the country and visit the complex of David Gareja rock monasteries from the 6th century
  • Transfer to Sighnaghi – a town with a 2.5-kilometer defensive wall, known for the oldest wine festival in Georgia, and on the way visiting the Bodbe Monastery – the burial place of St. Nino, who converted Georgia to Christianity
  • Supra – a traditional Georgian feast at a friendly farmers house on a vineyard, wine degustation and local food tasting, Georgian cuisine workshops (baking bread, making churchkhela or khinkali) with traditional live music 
  • Return in Tbilisi

Day 8: Tbilisi – Stepantsminda – Tbilisi

  • After breakfast, drive to Georgian Military Road, connecting Tbilisi to Vladikavkaz
  • On the way visiting the Ananuri fortress from the 17th century, located by the Zhinvali water reservoir
  • Lunch break
  • Photo stop at the Jvari Pass (2379 m)
  • Drive to one of the most beautifully situated monasteries in Georgia – Tsminda Sameba, which lies at an altitude of 2200 m above sea level. at the foot of Mount Kazbek (5033 m)
  • Dinner on the way back in a restaurant near the village of Bulachauri serving one of the most delicious khinkali – Georgian dumplings with meat 
  • Return to Tbilisi

Day 9: Tbilisi – Gelati – Motsameta – Kutaisi

  • After breakfast, departure towards Kutaisi
  • transfer to Kutaisi, currently the second largest city in Georgia and the capital of the Imereti region, Lunch break, short tour of the city and the Bagrati Cathedral
  • Transfer to two historic and extremely important monasteries for Georgians: Mocameta with a tragic history in the background and Gelati – a medieval monastery complex entered on the UNESCO list
  • Supra in guesthouse with Georgian cuisine workshops and live music
  • Hotel accommodation in Kutaisi

Day 10: Transfer to the Kutaisi airport

  • Yerevan – the capital of Armenia, with a beautiful Cascade (572 steps) and a view of Mount Ararat
