Program

Day 0:

  • Arrival at the Tbilisi international airport

Day 1: Tbilisi airport – Mtskheta – Tbilisi city tour

  • Arrival at Tbilisi international airport, hotel accommodation, time to rest
  • After breakfast, visit the monastery of Jvari and Mtskheta – the capital of Georgia until the 5th century and temple of Svetitskhoveli – the place of coronation and burial of Georgian kings
  • Return to tbilisi
  • In the evening Tbilisi city tour – explore the old town, Sioni Cathedral and Anchiskhati Basilica, cable car ride to the Narikala fortress with a wonderful panoramic view of the city, walk to the waterfall located in the city center, in the district of sulfur baths.
  • Optional visit for swimming in sulfur baths 
  • Dinner in a famous restaurant, combined with a traditional Georgian dance show
  • Return to the hotel for the night

Day 2: Tbilisi – Kakheti – Omalo

  • After breakfast departure to Kakheti through picturesque  Gombori Pass
  • Off- Road to Omalo through Abano Pass (2962 m. ) – one of the most beautiful and extremal roads in Caucasus, available only a few months in the year.
  • Dinner and overnight in guesthouse, Omalo 

Day  3: Omalo – Cheso – Parsma – Shenako – Diklo – Omalo

  • After  breakfast visit the mountain villages – Chesho and Parsma with middle age castles there.
  • Visit to the villages Shenako and Diklo located in Tusheti region
  • Piknik
  • Easy trekking to the Pichekhi castles
  • Back to Omalo village, evening with wine and chacha, Georgian barbeque – mtsvadi made on the fire  and amazing local musicians.
  • Overnight in Omalo
  • an optional horseback riding tour from Omalo to Szenako and Diklo can be organized on this day

Day 4: Omalo – Bochorna – Jvarboseli – Omalo

  • After the breakfast visit to the village Bochorna – the highest habited settlement in the Europe
  • Visit Jvarboseli –  deepest village in Tusheti 
  • Lunch in the guesthouse and relaxing time near the river
  • Back to Omalo and bonfire at the evening
  • Overnight in Omalo

Day 5: Omalo – Supra – Telavi

  • After the breakfast departure from Omalo to Kakheti region
  • Explore Kaheti region – known not only for winemaking traditions, but for unique middle age villages and cities, castles, monasteries, where lots of important things happened in the history of Georgia.
  • Georgian evening: organization of a supra – a traditional Georgian feast at a friendly farmer on the vineyard, combined with wine and local food tasting, Georgian cuisine workshops (baking bread, making churcheli or khinkali) and live music
  • Overnight in the hotel

Day 6: Telavi – Wine tour – Telavi

  • After breakfast heading to the Alazani Valley. stop at the local market in Gurjaani
  • Visit to the vineyard and museum in Numisi, Kindzmarauli wine factory, Khareba winery – military tunnel converted into a wine storage cellar
  • Next stop – Gremi fortress – capital of the kingdom of Kakheti until the 16th century. Beautiful view of the Alazani Valley
  • Dinner in the winery 
  • Return to Telavi, free time

Day 7: Telavi – Ananuri – Stepantsminda

  • After breakfast, heading in direction of Georgian Military Road – on the way visiting the Ananuri fortress from the 17th century, located by the Zhinvali water reservoir, photo stop at the Jvari Pass (2379 m above sea level)
  • Rafting on the Aragvi River for those willing, picnic by the river
  • Stop at a beautiful vantage point in front of the Jvari Pass (2379m)
  • Accommodation in Stepantsminda (formerly Kazbegi), free time, walking around the city
  • Dinner and overnight 

Day 8: Stepantsminda – Dolina Truso – Tsminda Sameba – Stepantsminda

  • After breakfast, all day off-road to the Truso Valley, known for its mineral springs, lakes, medieval defensive towers;  Abano monastery and the Zakagori fortress
  • A walk through the  valley, tasting the mineral waters and an outdoor picnic with local shepherds and baking skewers
  • In the afternoon, drive to one of the most beautifully situated monasteries in Georgia – Tsminda Sameba, which lies at an altitude of 2200 m above sea level. at the foot of Mount Kazbek (5033 m)
  • Return to Stepantsminda (Kazbegi), evening walk, dinner and overnight

Day 9: Stepantsminda – Pasanauri – Tbilisi

  • After the breakfast departure to Pasanauri and picnic next to the Aragvi River ( possibility for rafting)
  • Back to Tbilisi, accommodation in the hotel
  • Free time time
  • Farewell dinner in the restaurant; back to the hotel and relax before the flight

Day 10: Transfer to the airport

  • Transfer to the airport

  • Stepantsminda (formerly Kazbegi) –  town among the Greater Caucasus with the Gergeti Holy Trinity church situated at a height 2 200 m and looking at – Kazbek (Mkinvartsveri) – the second highest peak in Georgia ( 5040 m)
  • All-day off-road to Truso Valley and an outdoor picnic with local shepherds and baking skewers
  • Rafting on river Aragvi
