Program

Day 0:

  • Arrival in Tbilisi in the late evening hours

Day 1:  Tbilisi airport – Mtskheta – Tbilisi city tour 

  • Arrival at the Tbilisi international airport, hotel accommodation, time to rest.  
  • After breakfast, visit the monastery of Jvari and Mtskheta – the capital of Georgia until the 5th century and Svetitskhoveli cathedral  – the place of coronation and burial of Georgian kings
  • Lunch break and return to Tbilisi
  • Tbilisi city tour – explore the old town, Sioni Cathedral and Anchiskhati Basilica, cable car to the Narikala fortress with a wonderful panoramic view of the city, walk to the waterfall located in the city center, in the district of sulfur baths. You will see and feel how past and present are co-living in this amazing city 
  • Visit sulfur baths(optional)
  • Dinner in a famous Georgian restaurant
  • Return to the hotel.

Day 2: Tbilisi – David Gareja – Bodbe – Sighnaghi

  • After breakfast, departure to Kakheti – known not only for winemaking traditions, but for unique middle age villages and cities, castles, monasteries, where lots of important things happened in the history of Georgia
  • Drive to the steppes in the south of the country and visit the complex of David Gareja rock monasteries from the 6th century
  • Transfer to Signagi – a town with a 2.5-kilometer defensive wall, known for the oldest wine festival in Georgia, and on the way visiting the Bodbe Monastery – the burial place of St. Nino, who converted Georgia to Christianity
  • Accomodation and dinner Sighnaghi

Day 3: Sighnaghi – Vashlovani National Park/Lagodekhi National Park/Eagle Canyon and   khornabuji Fortress – Sighnaghi

  • After breakfast,  3 optional trips:
  1. Vashlovani National Park
  • Departure southeast towards the Vashlovani National Park on the border with Azerbaijan
  • Registration at Visitor Center of Vashlovani National Park in Dedoplistskaro and shopping  of necessary snacks before starting
  • Safari drive in Vashlovani National Park full with a unique semi-arid climate and landscape; Pantishara canyon
  • Lunch break
  • Off-road canyons, dry riverbeds, stops at viewpoints
  1. Lagodekhi National Park
  • Transfer to Lagodekhi National Park located on the border with Russia and Azerbaijan 
  • Shopping at the market for local specialties
  • About 5-6 hours trekking to the Gurgeniani waterfall
  • Picnic in the bosom of nature 
  1. Eagle Canyon and khornabuji Fortress
  • Transfer to Dedoplistskaro and shopping for local specialties 
  • Off road to Takhti-Tepa Mud Volcanoes
  • Picnic in the bosom of nature
  • Walk through the Eagle canyon, on the rocky slopes of the canyon you can see rare/endangered plants that are not found anywhere else on the territory of Georgia
  • Walk to the Khornabuji fortress

 

  • Return to Signagi, dinner and overnight

Day 4: Sighnaghi – Gurjaani – Wine tour – Gremi – Supra – Sighnaghi

  • After breakfast, visit at the local market in Gurjaani
  • Visit to the vineyard and museum in Numisi, Kindzmarauli wine factory, Khareba winery – tunnel converted into a wine warehouse
  • Next stop is Gremi fortress, which was the capital of the kingdom of Kakheti until the 16th century. Beautiful view of the Alazani Valley 
  • Supra – a traditional Georgian feast at a friendly farmers house on a vineyard, wine degustation and local food tasting, Georgian cuisine workshops (baking bread, making churchkhela or khinkali) with traditional live music
  • Return to Sighnaghi 

Day 5: Sighnaghi – Stepantsminda 

  • After breakfast, drive to Stepantsminda of Georgian Military Road, connecting Tbilisi to Vladikavkaz 
  • On the way visiting the Ananuri fortress from the 17th century, located by the Zhinvali water reservoir 
  • Photo stop at the Jvari Pass (2379 m)
  • Accommodation in Stepantsminda (formerly Kazbegi), free time, walking around the city 
  •  Dinner and overnight

Day 6: Stepantsminda – Truso Valley – Gergeti Holy Trinity – Stepantsminda

  • After breakfast, departure by off-road vehicles to the Truso Valley, known for its mineral springs, lakes, medieval defense towers, the Abano monastery and the Zakagori fortress
  • A walk in the valley, tasting the mineral waters and an outdoor picnic with local shepherds and baking skewers
  • In the afternoon, drive to one of the most beautifully situated monasteries in Georgia – Tsminda Sameba, which lies at an altitude of 2200 m above sea level. at the foot of Mount Kazbek (5033 m)
  • Return to Stepantsminda (Kazbegi), evening walk, dinner and overnight

Day 7: Stepantsminda – Shatili 

  • After breakfast, depart from Stepantsminda to Shatili ii on the border with Chechnya
  • Drive through the Datvis Jvari pass(2689 m), stops for picturesque viewpoints and a picnic in the bosom of nature
  • Arrival in Shatili, accommodation and visiting the medieval complex of defensive towers and stone houses, dating back to the 7th century
  • Free time, dinner and overnight in Shatili

Day 8: Shatili – Mutso – Anatori – Shatili

  • After breakfast, depart by off-road vehicles to Mutso, where there is a fortress with stone defensive towers, from where you can admire the beautiful panorama of Khevsureti
  • Picnic or lunch
  • On the way back to Shatili visiting the crypts of Anatori – an abandoned village where houses have turned into a graveyard centuries ago
  • Visiting Shatili fortress
  • Dinner and overnight

Day 9: Shatili – Tbilisi

  • After breakfast, time to pack your belongings and drive towards the Zhinvali water reservoir through the Datvis Jvari pass (2689 m)
  • Return to Tbilisi and a walk around the city, free time, the possibility of buying souvenirs
  • Farewell dinner, overnight at the hotel

Day 10: Transfer to the airport

  • Stepantsminda (formerly Kazbegi) – a town among the Greater Caucasus with the Gergeti Holy Trinity church situated at a height 2 200 m and looking at – Kazbek (Mkinvartsveri) – the second highest peak in Georgia ( 5040 m)
  • All-day off-road to Truso Valley and an outdoor picnic with local shepherds and baking skewers
  • Shatili – a medieval complex of defensive towers and stone houses, dating back to the 7th century.
