Program

Day 1: Kutaisi airport – Tbilisi

  • Arrival in Kutaisi
  • Lunch break after flight near Kutaisi
  • Transfer to Tbilisi and hotel accommodation
  • Welcome dinner in the old town
  • Night tour of the old town for those willing
  • Overnight stay at a hotel

Day 2:  Tbilisi – Mtskheta – Tbilisi city tour 

  • After breakfast, visit Jvari monastery and Mtskheta – the capital of Georgia until the 5th century and Svetitskhoveli cathedral  – the place of coronation and burial of Georgian kings
  • Lunch break near Mtskheta 
  • Return to Tbilisi
  • Tbilisi city tour – explore the old town, Sioni Cathedral and Anchiskhati Basilica, cable car to the Narikala fortress with a wonderful panoramic view of the city, walk to the waterfall located in the city center, in the district of sulfur baths
  • Visit sulfur baths(optional)
  • Dinner in a famous Georgian restaurant
  • Return to the hotel

Day 3: Tbilisi – David Gareja – Bodbe – Sighnaghi – Supra

  • After breakfast, drive to the steppe in the south of the country and visit the complex of David Gareja rock monasteries, carved in the 6th century right next to the border with Azerbaijan
  • Drive to Signagi – a town with a 2.5-kilometer defensive wall, known for the oldest wine festival in Georgia, and on the way visit the Bodbe Monastery – the burial place of St. Nino, who converted Georgia to Christianity
  • Georgian supra – a traditional Georgian feast at a friend’s host in the vineyard, combined with wine and local food tasting, Georgian cuisine workshops (baking bread, churchkhela or khinkali) and live music
  • overnight stay at a hotel

Day 4: Vashlovani National Park 

  • Departure southeast towards the Vashlovani National Park on the border with Azerbaijan
  • Registration at Visitor Center of Vashlovani National Park in Dedoplistskaro and shopping  of necessary snacks before starting
  • Safari drive in Vashlovani National Park full with a unique semi-arid climate and landscape; Pantishara canyon
  • Break for picnic
  • stops at viewpoints, see canyons, dry riverbeds
  • Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight

Day 5: Kakheti – Ananuri – Stepantsminda

  • After breakfast, drive to Stepantsminda of Georgian Military Road, connecting Tbilisi to Vladikavkaz 
  • On the way visiting the Ananuri fortress from the 17th century, located by the Zhinvali water reservoir
  • Optionally, rafting on the Aragvi river combined with a picnic by the river
  • Photo stop at the Jvari Pass (2379 m)
  • Accommodation in Stepantsminda (formerly Kazbegi), free time, walking around the city 
  • Dinner and overnight

Day 6: Stepantsminda – Truso Valley – Gergeti Holy Trinity – Stepantsminda

  • After breakfast, departure by off-road vehicles to the Truso Valley, known for its mineral springs, lakes, medieval defense towers, the Abano monastery and the Zakagori fortress
  • A walk in the valley, tasting the mineral waters and an outdoor picnic with local shepherds and baking skewers
  • In the afternoon, drive to one of the most beautifully situated monasteries in Georgia – Tsminda Sameba, which lies at an altitude of 2200 m above sea level. at the foot of Mount Kazbek (5033 m)
  • Return to Stepantsminda (Kazbegi), evening walk, dinner and overnight

Day 7: Stepantsminda – Shatili/Ardoti 

  • After breakfast, depart from Stepantsminda to Shatili ii on the border with Chechnya
  • Drive through the Datvis Jvari pass(2689 m), stops for picturesque viewpoints 
  • picnic in the bosom of nature
  • Arrival in Shatili, the medieval complex of defensive towers and stone houses, dating back to the 7th century
  • Free time, dinner and overnight

Day 8: Shatili/Ardoti – Mutso – Anatori – Tbilisi

  • After breakfast, depart by off-road vehicles to Mutso, where there is a fortress with stone defensive towers, from where you can admire the beautiful panorama of Khevsureti
  • On the way visiting the crypts of Anatori – an abandoned village where houses have turned into a graveyard centuries ago
  • Lunch or picnic on the way
  • Return to Tbilisi and  walk around the city, free time, possibility to buy souvenirs
  • Dinner and overnight

Day 9: Tbilisi – Uplistsikhe – Kutaisi

  • After breakfast departure Uplistsikhe, the oldest cave city in Georgia, where the settlement dates back to the second millennium BC
  • Arrival in Kutaisi
  • Georgian supra in famous gesthouse with Georgian cuisine workshops and live music
  • Free time, walk around the old capital of Colchis
  • Overnight stay at a hotel

Day 10: Transfer to the Kutaisi airport

  • Transfer to the airport
