Program

Day 1: Kutaisi Airport – Tbilisi

  • Arrival in Kutaisi
  • Lunch break after flight near Kutaisi
  • Transfer to Tbilisi and hotel accommodation
  • Welcome dinner in the old town
  • Night tour of the old town for those willing
  • Overnight stay at a hotel

Day 2: Tbilisi airport – Mtskheta – Tbilisi city tour

  • After breakfast, visit the monastery of Jvari and Mtskheta – the capital of Georgia until the 5th century and temple of Svetitskhoveli there – the place of coronation and burial of Georgian kings
  • Lunch break
  • In the evening Tbilisi city tour – explore the old town, Sioni Cathedral and Anchiskhati Basilica, cable car to the Narikala fortress with a wonderful panoramic view of the city, walk to the waterfall located in the city center, in the district of sulfur baths.
  • Visit sulfur baths(optional) 
  • Dinner in a famous restaurant, combined with traditional Georgian dances.
  • Return to the hotel

Day 3:  Tbilisi – David Gareja – Bodbe – Sighnaghi

  • After breakfast, departure to Kakheti – a land known for its wine production and unique medieval heritage
  • Drive to the steppes in the south of the country and visit the complex of David Gareja rock monasteries from the 6th century
  • Lunch break in Udabno serving Svan specialties  
  • After transferring to Sighnaghi – a town with a 2.5-kilometer defensive wall, known for the oldest wine festival in Georgia, and on the way visiting the Bodbe Monastery – the burial place of St. Nino, who converted Georgia to Christianity.
  • Accommodation and dinner in Sighnaghi

Day 4: Sighnaghi – Gurjaani – Wine tour – Gremi – Supra – Sighnaghi

  • After breakfast heading to the Alazani Valley with a stop at the local market in Gurjaani
  • Visit to the vineyard and museum in Numisi, Kindzmarauli wine factory, Khareba winery – tunnel converted into a wine warehouse
  • Next stop – Gremi fortress, which until the 16th century was the capital of the kingdom of Kakheti and from where there is a beautiful view of the Alazani Valley.
  • Supra – a traditional Georgian feast at a friendly farmers house on a vineyard, with wine and local food tasting, Georgian cuisine workshops (baking bread, making churchkhela or khinkali) with traditional singers. 
  • Return to Sighnaghi, free time, dinner

Day 5: Sighnaghi – Ananuri – Stepantsminda

  • After breakfast, heading in direction of Georgian Military Road – on the way visiting the Ananuri fortress from the 17th century, located by the Zhinvali water reservoir,
  • Lunch break
  • Stop at a beautiful vantage point in front of the Jvari Pass (2379m)
  • Accommodation in Stepantsminda (formerly Kazbegi), free time,dinner and overnight 

Day 6: Stepantsminda – Truso Valley – Gergeti Holy Trinity – Stepantsminda

  • After breakfast, all day off-road to the Truso Valley, known for its mineral springs, lakes, medieval defensive towers, the Abano monastery and the Zakagori fortress
  • A walk in the valley, tasting the mineral waters and an outdoor picnic with local shepherds and baking skewers
  • In the afternoon, drive to one of the most beautifully situated monasteries in Georgia – Tsminda Sameba, which lies at an altitude of 2200 m above sea level. at the foot of Mount Kazbek (5033 m)
  • Return to Stepantsminda (Kazbegi), evening walk, dinner and overnight

Day 7: Stepantsminda – Gori – Uplistsikhe – Borjomi – Akhaltsikhe

  • After breakfast, depart towards Gori – photo stop at the Stalin’s museum, where the commander was born and his personal train is located.
  • Short stop at the Stalin’s Museum – memorial house where Stalin is believed to have been born, an exhibition building, and Stalin’s personal train car, in which he traveled to Tehran, Yalta and Potsdam
  • Visiting Uplistsikhe, the oldest cave city in Georgia, where the settlement dates back to the second millennium BC
  • Lunch break
  • Transfer to Borjomi and a walk through the beautiful park with numerous medical waters, optional cable car ride to the viewpoint.
  • Drive to Akhaltsikhe – a place where religions and cultures intersect, visiting the largest fortress in Georgia – Rabat
  • Accommodation and dinner in Akhaltsikhe

Day 8: Akhaltsikhe – Vardzia – Kutaisi

  • After breakfast visit the monumental cave city of Vardzia, founded in the times of Queen Tamara (12th-13th centuries), which in its heyday could accommodate up to 50,000 residents 
  • Drive toward Kutaisi, visit Gelati – a medieval monastery complex is included in UNESCO’s World Cultural Heritage list and Motsameta Monastery, which is picturesquely located on the cliff of a promontory in the curve of the Ckalcitela river
  • Lunch break
  • Kutaisi – the historic capital of the legendary Colchis, and now the second largest city in Georgia
  • Dinner at a popular local restaurant
  • Accommodation and overnight in Kutaisi

Day 9: Kutaisi – Martvili Canyon – Mestia

  • After breakfast, visit Prometheus Cave, which is located 40 kilometers from Kutaisi near Tskaltubo. The cave is one of the most popular destinations in the region, and includes various types of stalactites, stalagmites, curtains, petrified waterfalls, underground rivers, and lakes
  • Visit Martvili canyon
  • Lunch break
  • Transfer to Svaneti, stop on the way at one of the highest dam in the world, on the Enguri River
  • Arrival in Mestia, a town with medieval stone towers among the majestic Caucasus Mountains
  • Dinner and accommodation in Mestia

Day 10: Mestia – Ushguli – Mestia

  • After breakfast, a full-day jeep trip to Ushguli – one of the highest situated villages in Europe, where time has stopped, known for its 37 preserved stone towers from the 9th-12th centuries
  • Lunch break
  • For those who wish, a walk towards the Shkhara glacier – the highest mountain in Georgia (5193 m)
  • Return to Mestia, and on the way, cable car ride to the Hatsvali viewpoint, from where you can observe the surroundings of  Mestia
  • For those who wish, a visit to the local ethnographic museum located in one of the Svan tower
  • Dinner and overnight in Mestia

Day 11-14: Mestia – Batumi

  • After breakfast, transfer to Batumi and the following optional excursions are possible during these days: 

 

  • Trekking in Mtirala national park, near Batumi, widespread woody verdure, chestnut coppice, beech forests, Colchis typed mixed woods. Here also you will come across Adzharian- Lazian very rare, endemic species, and those varieties of Georgian “Red List”
  • Trip to the Makhuntseti and Mirveti waterfalls; Visiting medieval stone bridges; Drive to a vineyard located in the mountains of Adjara, from which there is a beautiful view of the surrounding area; Tasting of local spirits and dishes
  • Trip for tasting fish from the Black Sea, unforgettable supra on the beach at sunset with freshly caught fish
  • Walking tour in Batumi, crossing the promenade, entering the Alphabet Tower, cable car to the viewpoint, visit to the dolphinarium, botanical garden, walk around the old town, and dinner in a local atmospheric restaurant or in a small restaurant by the fish market combined with tasting local beer
  • Trip to the botanical garden and lunch / dinner at the local fish market
  • Rafting near Batumi, for beginners and advanced, combined with a picnic in a picturesque place
  • All day trip to the Goderdzi Pass and Green Lake

Included in the price is a transfer from Batumi to the airport upon check-out.

On request, we can also prepare a full offer for you with a stay in Batumi (for example 10, 14 days – depending on the flights), in this case, we are responsible for booking accommodation and an additional program in Batumi.
