Program

Day 1: Kutaisi airport – Borjomi – Akhaltsikhe

  • Departure from Poland and arrival in Kutaisi.
  • After lunch, drive to Borjomi – an old spa known worldwide for its healing mineral waters – visit the spa park, tasting the water directly from the springs, taking the cable car to the viewpoint.
  • Transfer to Akhaltsikhe – a place where religions and cultures intersect, visit the largest fortress in Georgia – Rabati.
  • Accommodation and dinner in Akhaltsikhe.

Day 2: Akhaltsikhe – Vardzia – Abastumani – Akhaltsikhe

  • After breakfast, visit the monumental rock city of Vardzia, founded in the times of Queen Tamara (12th-13th centuries), which in its heyday could accommodate up to 50 thousand residents.
  • Stop at the local market in Akhaltsikhe
  • Lunch break
  • Visit to the old spa with a unique microclimate of Abastumani, where the Romanov Palace is located. ( For those who wish, a visit to the pools with thermal water)
  • Return to Akhaltsikhe for dinner and overnight

Day 3: Akhaltsikhe – Zarzma – Makhuntseti – Batumi

  • After breakfast, departure towards Batumi, stop at the Zarzma Monastery from the turn of the 6th and 7th centuries, off-road to the town of Khulo through the Goderdzi Pass (2025 m), which is still little known among tourists, dotted with wooden huts.
  • Lunch break
  • Before arriving at Batumi, we will see the Makhuntseti waterfall and the 900-year-old stone bridge of Queen Tamara, from where local kids jump into the water during the summer months.
  • Arrival in Batumi, check-in at the hotel, free time.
  • Dinner at the popular restaurant with local dishes.
  • Overnight in Batumi

Day 4: Batumi – Gonio/Botanical Garden – Batumi

  • Free time after breakfast (to rest on the beach or explore the city and the seaside boulevard)
  • In the afternoon, visit the Gonio fortress from Roman times or the botanical garden of Batumi
  • Lunch break
  • Return to Batumi and free time.
  • In the evening, dinner at the restaurant.
  • Overnight at a hotel in Batumi

Day 5: Batumi – Zugdidi – Mestia

  • After breakfast, drive from Batumi to Zugdidi, visit the park and the nineteenth-century palace belonging to the princely family of Dadiani, where there is, among others, a copy of Napoleon’s death mask.
  • Then we will drive to Svaneti through a breathtaking road winding among high mountains, we will stop at one of the highest dams in the world on the Inguri River.
  • Lunch break on the way
  • Arrival in Mestia, a town with medieval stone towers, hotel accommodation, free time.
  • Dinner and overnight in Mestia.

Day 6: Mestia – Ushguli – Mestia

  • After breakfast, a full-day jeep trip to Ushguli – one of the highest situated villages in Europe, where time has stopped, known for its 37 preserved stone towers from the 9th-12th centuries.
  • Lunch break
  • For those who wish, a walk towards the Shkhara glacier – the highest mountain in Georgia (5193 m).
  • Return to Mestia, and on the way, cable car ride to the Hatsvali viewpoint, from where you can observe the surroundings of  Mestia.
  • For those who wish, a visit to the local ethnographic museum located in one of the towers of Svaneti.
  • Dinner and overnight in Mestia

Day 7: Mestia – Martvili Canyon – Kutaisi

  • After breakfast, on the way to Kutaisi we will visit the amazing Martvili canyon with the rushing river meandering among the rocks and have a short boat trip.
  • Arrival in Kutaisi, hotel accommodation and lunch break.
  • Kutaisi city tour – the historic capital of the legendary Colchis, and now the second largest city in Georgia 
  • Visit Bagrati Cathedral that holds special importance in the history of Georgia as an architectural and cultural monument
  • Dinner and overnight in Kutaisi

Day 8: Kutaisi – Motsameta – Gelati – Lotnisko Kutaisi

  • After breakfast, visit Motsameta Monastery, which is picturesquely located on the cliff of a promontory in the curve of the Tskaltsitela river, a tributary of the Rioni river. 
  • Gelati – a medieval monastery complex is included in UNESCO’s World Cultural Heritage list and its architecture is well known for wonderful mosaics and frescoes. King David the Builder, the most celebrated King of Georgia, is buried in the yard of the monastery
  • Return to Kutaisi, lunch break
  • Transfer to the Kutaisi airport
