Program

Day 1: Tbilisi – Keselo – Omalo (195km) 5h

  • the tour starts early in the morning at 07:00. Meeting point at the bicycle monument https://maps.app.goo.gl/GMxk2XCjvoE2kKh48
  • departure from Tbilisi to the Kakheti region through the picturesque Gombori pass (1620 m)
  • visiting the Alaverdi Cathedral
  • drive to the village of Lechuri, where the Stori Valley begins, from where the road to Tusheti leads through the Abano pass (2826 m)
  • visit to the Information Center in the village of Omalo, where you can learn more about the history, culture and attractions of Tusheti
  • In the evening, accommodation in a family guesthouse.
  • visiting the Keselo castle towers in Omalo
  • the guesthouse serves traditional Georgian and Tushetian dishes for dinner.

Day 2 : Omalo – Dartlo – Kvavlo – Dano – Boczorna – Omalo (50 km) 8-9h

  • breakfast at the guesthouse
  • visiting the villages of Dartlo, Kvavlo, Dano. There is a place of old meetings and courts – sabczeo, where the judges were women and men from the local community. You can also see the defense towers, which are on the UNESCO list of monuments
  • picnic in the bosom of nature
  • visiting the highest inhabited village in Europe – Boczorna (2345 m) and the village of Doczu
  • return to the hotel, dinner in a family atmosphere.

Day 3 : Omalo – Szenako – Diklo – Tbilisi (210 km) 8-10h

  • breakfast at the guesthouse
  • visiting the following villages: Shenako, Diklo. Visiting the Diklo Castle and the church and St. George in Shenako, architectural monuments built in the 19th century
  • return to Tbilisi

The trip is organized by local guides with many years of experience!

 

Additional attractions:

  • full day horse riding: 150 GEL per person (the route follows the same route as the off-road vehicle ride, with shared lunches, picnics, etc.)
  • 1 hour horse riding: 50 GEL per person

  • In case of bad weather, landslides or other road problems, tours may be delayed. The organizers are always kept up to date on road conditions and in case of cancellation of tours we provide a full refund.

Accommodation:

  • fantastic local guesthouse, comfortable rooms with bathrooms, home-cooked dinners and breakfasts, delicacies of Tushetian cuisine.
  • accommodation in a single room +50 GEL per day

Tips:

  • When traveling to Tusheti, it is recommended to wear comfortable, sports shoes suitable for the mountains. Remember to bring a warm jacket and light clothing, as it is quite warm during the day and can be cool in the evening
  • in Tusheti it is forbidden to eat pork and its products. There are also places associated with worship where women are not allowed. Respect the rules and traditions that the local population has been following for centuries
