Expedition overview
DAY 1: TBILISI – GOMBORI PASS – ALAVERDI – ABANO – TUSHETI – OMALO
- Tour starts at 06:00 in the morning, meeting point by car
- Departure from Tbilisi via Gombori Pass (1620m)
- Stop at Alaverdi Cathedral
- After Lechuri village, enter Stori gorge and begin Tusheti road
- Cross Abano Pass (2826m)
- Visit Omalo village and the visitor center
- Learn about Tusheti’s history and culture
- Check-in at family guesthouse
- Visit Keselo towers in Omalo (UNESCO)
- Dinner with traditional Georgian and Tushetian dishes
DAY 2: OMALO – DARTLO – DIKLO – DOCHU – TUSHETI – BOCHORNA
- Breakfast at the guesthouse
- Visit Dartlo, Kvavlo, Diklo, Bochorna, Dochu, Jvarboseli
- See old courtroom where female judges served
- Explore Tusheti towers (UNESCO), restored in Dartlo
- Visit Bochorna – highest populated village in Europe (2345m)
- Lunch in nature
- Stay until evening, return to guesthouse
- Dinner at guesthouse
DAY 3: BOCHORNA – SHENAKO – DIKLO – TBILISI
- Breakfast at guesthouse
- Visit Shenako, Diklo, Old Diklo
- See Diklo Castle and St. George Church in Shenako (19th c.)
- Return to Tbilisi with lunch stop on the way
- Pass waterfalls, ravines, small villages
- Possible to see wild animals and rare birds
