Program

Day 1: Kutaisi airport – Tbilisi

  • Arrival in Kutaisi airport
  • Transfer to Tbilisi and dinner on the way
  • Night tour of the old town for those willing
  • Overnight at the hotel

Day 2:  Tbilisi – Mtskheta – Tbilisi city tour 

  • After breakfast, visit the monastery of Jvari and Mtskheta – the capital of Georgia until the 5th century and temple of Svetitskhoveli there – the place of coronation and burial of Georgian kings
  • Lunch near Mtskheta
  • Tbilisi city tour – explore the old town, Sioni Cathedral and Anchiskhati Basilica, cable car to the Narikala fortress with a wonderful panoramic view of the city, walk to the waterfall located in the city center, in the district of sulphur baths. You will see and feel how past and present are co-living in this amazing city
  • Free time
  • Dinner in a famous restaurant, combined with a show of traditional Georgian dances
  • Return to the hotel

Day 3: Tbilisi – David Gareja – Sighnaghi – Bodbe – Telavi

  • After breakfast, drive to the steppe in the south of the country and visit the complex of David Gareja rock monasteries, carved in the 6th century right on the border with Azerbaijan
  • Lunch break in Udabno at a local restaurant serving specialties of Svan cuisine
  • Transfer to Sighnaghi – a town with a 2.5-kilometer defensive wall, known for the oldest wine festival in Georgia, and on the way visiting the Bodbe Monastery – the burial place of St. Nino, who converted Georgia to Christianity
  • Accomodation in Telavi

Day 4: Telavi – Wine tour – Gremi – Supra – Telavi

  • After breakfast, departure to the Alazani Valley with a stop at the local market in Gurjaani
  • Visit to the vineyard and museum in Numisi, Kindzmarauli wine factory, Khareba vineyard – a tunnel converted into a wine warehouse – tastings
  • Gremi fortress – the old capital of Kakheti, serving as the capital of Kakheti until the 16th century, overlooking the vast Alazani valley
  • Georgian evening: organization of a supra – a traditional Georgian feast at a friendly host’s vineyard, combined with wine and local food tasting, Georgian cuisine workshops (bread baking, churchkhela or khinkali making) and live music
  • Return to Telavi, overnight stay

Day 5: Telavi – Ananuri – Gergeti Holy Trinity – Gudauri

  • After breakfast, drive to Georgian Military Road, connecting Tbilisi to Vladikavkaz
  • Lunch in the local restaurant
  • On the way visiting the Ananuri fortress from the 17th century, located by the Zhinvali water reservoir
  • Photo stop at the Jvari Pass (2379 m)
  • drive to one of the most beautifully situated monasteries in Georgia – Gergeti Holy Trinity church, which lies at an altitude of 2200 m above sea level. at the foot of Mount Kazbek (5033 m)
  • Arriving in Gudauri. Dinner and overnight

Day 6: Gudauri – Truso Valley – Gudauri

  • After breakfast, departure by off-road vehicles to the Truso Valley, known for its mineral springs, lakes, medieval defensive towers, Abano Monastery and Zakagori Fortress
  • Walk through the valley, tasting mineral waters and an outdoor picnic with local shepherds and baking skewers
  • Return to Gudauri, dinner at a restaurant
  • Overnight stay at a hotel

Day 7: Gudauri – Uplistsikhe – Kutaisi

  • After breakfast, departure to Uplistsikhe – the oldest rock city in Georgia, where the settlement dates back to the second millennium BC
  • Drive towards Kutaisi, the historical capital of the legendary Colchis, and currently the second largest city in Georgia and the capital of the Imereti region
  • Dinner at a popular local restaurant
  • Accommodation and overnight stay in Kutaisi

 Day 8: Batumi – Kutaisi airport

  • Transfer to the airport
