Program

Day 1: Kutaisi Airport – Tbilisi (250 km)

  • arrival in Kutaisi.
  • a short stop for a snack after the flight.
  • transfer to Tbilisi and hotel accommodation.
  • welcome dinner in the old town.
  • optional night tour of the old town.
  • overnight stay at a hotel in Tbilisi.

Day 2: Tbilisi – Mtskheta – Tbilisi Sightseeing (60 km)

  • after breakfast, visit the surroundings of Tbilisi – the city of Mtskheta, which served as the capital until the 5th century AD; visiting the legendary Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, the coronation and eternal resting place of the rulers of Georgia; transfer to the Jvari Monastery located on top of the hill.
  • free time, break for an individual meal.
  • sightseeing in the capital, walk along Shota Rustaveli Avenue and the old town, visit to the Sioni Cathedral and the Anchiskhati Basilica, cable car ride to Narikala Fortress with a wonderful view of the city, walk to the waterfall in the city center in the sulfur baths district.
  • dinner at a renowned restaurant, combined with a show of traditional Georgian dances.
  • return to the hotel for overnight stay.

 Day 3: Tbilisi – Omalo (190 km)

  • after breakfast, depart for Kakheti through the picturesque Gombori Pass
  • off-road drive through one of the most dangerous and spectacular roads in Georgia, through the Abano Pass (2962 m above sea level) to Omalo – a village located in the inaccessible Caucasus mountains for only a few months a year
  • picnic/lunch
  • dinner and overnight stay at a guesthouse in Omalo

Day 4: Omalo – Dartlo – Chesho – Parsma – Girevi – Shenako – Diklo – Omalo (60 km)

  • after breakfast, drive to the mountain village of Dartlo with historic medieval defensive towers
  • drive through Tusheti to another valley and visit the highland villages of Shenako and Diklo
  • picnic
  • short trek to Diklo fortress
  • return to Omalo, bonfire with kebabs, wine, and chacha, accompanied by local musicians
  • overnight stay in Omalo
  • optionally, organize a horse ride from Omalo to Shenako and Diklo on this day

Day 5: Omalo – Bochorna – Jvarboseli – Omalo (20 km)

  • after breakfast, visit the shepherds in Bocorna (Bochorna) – the highest village in Europe
  • drive deeper into Tusheti to the village of Jvarboseli
  • lunch at an agrotourism farm and free time to relax by the river
  • return to Omalo, evening bonfire
  • overnight stay in Omalo

Day 6: Omalo – Supra – Telavi (100 km)

  • after breakfast, depart from Omalo and return through the Abano Pass to Kakheti
  • tour of Kakheti – a region known for wine production, rich in medieval fortresses, charming towns, and impressive monasteries
  • organization of supra – a traditional Georgian feast at a friendly host’s vineyard, combined with wine and local food tasting, Georgian cuisine workshops (bread baking or making churchkhela), and live music
  • overnight stay in a hotel in Telavi

Day 7: Telavi – Ananuri – Rafting – Stepantsminda (250 km)

  • after breakfast, departure from Kakheti towards the famous Georgian Military Road, connecting Tbilisi with Vladikavkaz
  • en route stop at Ananuri Fortress from the 17th century, picturesquely located above the Zhinvali reservoir
  • optionally, rafting on the Aragvi River, picnic by the river
  • break for individual meal
  • stop at a beautiful viewpoint just before the Cross Pass (2395 m above sea level)
  • accommodation in Stepantsminda, free time, dinner, overnight stay

Day 8: Stepantsminda – Truso Valley – Tsminda Sameba – Stepantsminda (70 km)

  • after breakfast, off-road trip to Truso Valley, known for its mineral springs, lakes, medieval defensive towers, Abano Monastery, and Zakagori fortress
  • walk through the valley, tasting mineral waters and a picnic in the open air with local shepherds and barbecue
  • drive to the town of Stepantsminda (formerly Kazbegi), and visit one of the most beautifully located monasteries in Georgia – Tsminda Sameba, located at an altitude of 2170 m above sea level at the foot of Mount Kazbek (5033 m above sea level)
  • return to Gudauri/Stepantsminda, dinner and overnight stay at the hotel

Day 9: Stepantsminda – Pasanauri – Kutaisi (320 km)

  • after breakfast, departure towards Kutaisi.
  • break for individual lunch.
  • sightseeing in the city, free time, stroll through the old capital of Colchis.
  • farewell dinner at a local restaurant with Imereti specialties.
  • return to the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 10: Transfer to the airport (25 km)

  • transfer to the airport
