Expedition overview
Day 0:
- arrival in Tbilisi in the late evening hours
Day 1: Tbilisi airport – sightseeing Tbilisi (20 km)
- late arrival in Tbilisi, accommodation and breakfast at the hotel, rest
- 11:00 – 14:00 exploring the old town, walking along Shota Rustaveli Avenue, visiting Sioni Cathedral and Anchiskhati Basilica, taking a cable car to Narikala Fortress with a magnificent view of the city, walking to the waterfall located in the city center, in the district of sulfur baths
- 14:00 – 16:00 lunch break in the city
- 16:00 – 20:00 free time in the city for souvenir shopping and for those interested (optionally) a visit to the famous Tbilisi sulfur baths, a visit to private baths with a sauna and hot therapeutic waters, massages, and peeling
- 20:00 – 23:00 dinner at a well-known restaurant, combined with a performance of traditional Georgian dances
- return to the hotel for overnight stay in Tbilisi
Day 2: tbilisi – Ananuri – Rafting – Supra – Stepantsminda (150 km)
- 08:00 – 09:00 breakfast at the hotel
- 09:00 – 14:00 departure towards the famous Georgian Military Highway, connecting Tbilisi with Vladikavkaz, on the way, stop at the Ananuri fortress from the 17th century, picturesquely located above the Zhinvali reservoir
- stop at a beautiful viewpoint just before the Cross Pass (2395 m above sea level)
- 12:00 – 14:00 optional rafting on the Aragvi river combined with a picnic by the Aragvi river
- 14:00 – 16:00 lunch in a Georgian home with our local friends featuring highland cuisine specialties and competitions in drinking local moonshine from a ram’s horn
- 20:00 return to Stepantsminda / Gudauri, dinner and overnight stay at the hotel
Day 3: Stepantsminda – Truso Valley – Tsminda Sameba – Stepantsminda (100 km)
- 08:00 – 09:00 breakfast at the hotel
- 09:00 – 11:00 departure by off-road vehicles to Truso Valley, known for its mineral springs, lakes, medieval defensive towers, Abano monastery, and Zakagori fortress
- 11:00 – 13:00 walking in the valley, tasting mineral waters, and outdoor picnic with local shepherds and barbecue
- 13:00 – 17:00 drive to the village of Stepantsminda
- jeep ride to one of the most beautifully situated monasteries in Georgia – Tsminda Sameba, located at an altitude of 2170 m above sea level at the foot of Mount Kazbek (5033 m above sea level)
- 17:00 – 18:00 return to Gudauri, dinner and overnight stay at the hotel in Gudauri
Day 4: Stepantsminda – Mtskheta – Sarajishvili Factory – Tbilisi (150 km)
- 08:00 – 09:00 breakfast at the hotel
- 09:00 – 14:00 departure towards Tbilisi, visiting the Dzwari Monastery located on top of a hill, and then the city of Mccheta, which served as the capital until the 5th century BCE, visiting the legendary Sweti Cchoweli Temple, the site of the coronation and eternal rest of the rulers of Georgia
- free time for souvenir shopping
- 14:00 – 15:00 lunch in a local restaurant
- 15:00 – 19:00 drive to Tbilisi, accommodation at the hotel, visit to the oldest Georgian brandy factory Sarajishvili and tasting of brandy XO VIP
- 19:00 – 22:00 farewell dinner at a local restaurant
- overnight stay at a hotel in Tbilisi
Day 5: Transfer to the airport (20 km)
- late transfer from the hotel to the airport
