Expedition overview

Day 0:

  • arrival in Tbilisi in the late evening hours

Day 1: Tbilisi Airport – (Mtskheta) – sightseeing Tbilisi (20 km)

  • late arrival in Tbilisi, accommodation in a hotel, time to rest
  • 11:00 – 14:00 after breakfast at the hotel, optionally sightseeing around Tbilisi – visiting the Jvari Monastery located on top of a hill, and then the city of Mtskheta, which served as the capital until the 5th century CE, visiting the legendary Svetitskhoveli cathedral, the site of the coronation and eternal rest of the rulers of Georgia
  • 14:00 – 16:00 lunch in the vicinity of Mtskheta at a restaurant by the river run by a famous Georgian chef, author of the well-known book “Georgian Taste”
  • 16:00 – 19:00 sightseeing in the old town, stroll along Shota Rustaveli Avenue, Sioni Cathedral and Anchiskhati Basilica, ride the cable car to Narikala Fortress with a magnificent view of the city, walk to the waterfall located in the city center, in the district of sulfur baths
  • 20:00 – 23:00 dinner at a well-known restaurant, combined with a performance of traditional Georgian dances
  • return to the hotel for overnight stay in Tbilisi

Day 2: Tbilisi – Signagi – Bodbe – Supra in Gurdżaani – Telavi (180 km)

  • 08:00 – 09:00 breakfast at the hotel
  • 09:00 – 11:00 departure to Kakheti – a region known for wine production, rich in medieval fortresses, picturesque towns, and impressive monasteries
  • 11:00 – 13:00 sightseeing in Signagi – a town with a 2.5-kilometer defensive wall, known for the oldest wine festival in Georgia and the Bodbe Monastery – the burial place of St. Nino, who converted Georgia to Christianity
  • free time in the city for souvenir shopping
  • 13:00 – 15:00 lunch, Supra – a traditional Georgian feast at a friendly host’s vineyard, combined with wine tasting and local dishes, Georgian cuisine workshops (bread baking or making Churchkhela) with live music
  • 15:00 – 17:00 transfer to Telavi, accommodation in a hotel
  • 19:00 – 20:00 relaxation by the pool, overnight stay in Telavi

Day 3: Telavi – Shumi Winery – Tbilisi (150 km)

  • 08:00 – 09:00 breakfast at the hotel
  • 09:00 – 11:00 visiting the famous Shumi Winery and tasting the best Kakhetian wine
  • 11:00 – 15:00 lunch on the way, return to Tbilisi
  • 15:00 – 19:00 accommodation, free time in the old town for souvenir shopping and for those interested (optionally) a visit to the famous Tbilisi sulfur baths, a visit to private baths with a sauna and hot therapeutic waters, massages and peeling
  • 20:00 – 23:00 farewell dinner at a local restaurant in the old town
  • overnight stay in a hotel in Tbilisi

Day 4: transfer to the airport (20 km)

  • transfer from the hotel to the airport
