Expedition overview
Day 0:
- arrival in Tbilisi in the late evening hours
Day 1: Tbilisi Airport – Tbilisi Sightseeing (20 km)
- late arrival in Tbilisi, accommodation, and breakfast at the hotel, rest.
- 11:00 – 14:00 exploring the old town, walking along Shota Rustaveli Avenue, visiting Sioni Cathedral and Anchiskhati Basilica, taking a cable car to Narikala Fortress with a magnificent view of the city, walking to the waterfall located in the city center, in the district of sulfur baths.
- 14:00 – 16:00 lunch break in the city.
- 16:00 – 20:00 free time in the city for souvenir shopping and for those interested (optional) visit to the famous Tbilisi sulfur baths, visit to private baths with a sauna and hot therapeutic waters, massages, and peeling.
- 20:00 – 21:00 dinner at a well-known restaurant, combined with a show of traditional Georgian dances.
- return to the hotel for overnight stay in Tbilisi.
Day 2: Tbilisi – Ananuri – Tsminda Sameba – Stepantsminda – Tbilisi (300 km)
- 08:00 – 09:00 breakfast at the hotel.
- 09:00 – 14:00 departure towards the famous Georgian Military Highway, connecting Tbilisi with Vladikavkaz, stopping at the Ananuri fortress from the 17th century, picturesquely located above the Zhinvali reservoir.
- stop at a beautiful viewpoint just before the Cross Pass (2395 m above sea level).
- 14:00 – 16:00 short lunch break.
- 16:00 – 17:00 drive to the town of Stepantsminda and ascent to one of the most beautifully situated monasteries in Georgia – Tsminda Sameba, located at an altitude of 2170 m above sea level at the foot of Mount Kazbek (5033 m above sea level).
- 17:00 – 21:00 Return to Tbilisi, dinner at a local restaurant on the way.
Day 3: Tbilisi – David Gareja – Sagarejo / Sighnaghi – Bodbe – Supra – Tbilisi
- 08:00 – 09:00 breakfast at the hotel.
- after breakfast, choose one of the two optional excursions:
opt#1. 10:00 – 18:00 Off-road to David Gareja – Supra – Tbilisi (240 km)
- 09:00 – 11:00 off-road drive to the southern part of the country and exploring the complex of rock monasteries David Gareja, carved in the 6th century right on the border with Azerbaijan.
- 11:00 – 13:00 stop at the picturesque rainbow hills on the way to the rock monasteries.
- 13:00 – 14:00 outdoor picnic in the semi-desert, tasting Azerbaijani dish with lamb – plov.
- 14:00 – 17:00 drive to Vineria in Kakheti for dinner.
- 18:00 return to Tbilisi.
opt#2. 10:00 – 18:00 Tbilisi – Sighnaghi – Bodbe – Supra – Tbilisi (255 km)
- 09:00 – 11:00 departure to Kakheti – the land known for wine production, a region rich in medieval fortresses, charming towns, and grand monasteries.
- 11:00 – 13:00 exploring Sighnaghi – a town with a 2.5-kilometer defensive wall, known for the oldest wine festival in Georgia, and Bodbe Monastery – the burial place of St. Nino, who converted Georgia to Christianity.
- free time in the town for souvenir shopping.
- 13:00 – 15:00 organization of Supra – a traditional Georgian feast at a friendly host’s vineyard, combined with wine and local cuisine tastings, Georgian cuisine workshops (bread baking or making churchkhela) with live music.
- 15:00 – 18:00 return to Tbilisi.
- 20:00 dinner at a local restaurant, overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 4: 10:00 – 18:00 Tbilisi – Mtskheta – Sarajishvili / Dashbashi Canyon – Tbilisi
- 08:00 – 09:00 breakfast at the hotel.
- after breakfast, choose one of the two optional excursions
opt#1. 10:00 – 18:00 Tbilisi – Mtskheta – Sarajishvili – Tbilisi (60 km)
- 09:00 – 13:00 after breakfast at the hotel, optionally visit the surroundings of Tbilisi – visit the Dzhvari Monastery located on top of the hill, and then the town of Mtskheta, which until the 5th century BC served as the capital, visit the legendary Sveti Ckhoveli Cathedral, the place of coronation and eternal rest of the rulers of Georgia.
- free time in the town for souvenir shopping.
- 13:00 – 15:00 lunch in Mtskheta at a famous Georgian restaurant.
- 15:00 – 17:00 visit to the Sarajishvili brandy factory – the first and oldest Georgian brandy from 1884 and tasting of selected VSOP and XO spirits.
- 17:00 – 19:00 relaxation time.
- 20:00 – 23:00 dinner at a famous Georgian restaurant, combined with a show of traditional Georgian dances.
opt#2. 10:00 – 18:00 Tbilisi – Dashbashi Canyon – Tbilisi (210 km)
- 09:00 – 12:00 after breakfast, we will head to the Samtskhe-Javakheti region, where we will visit Dashbashi Canyon – the glass bridge suspended high above the canyon and other attractions on site.
- 12:00 – 16:00 exploring the canyon and lunch.
- 16:00 – 19:00 return to Tbilisi, in the evening for those interested (optional) visit to the famous Tbilisi sulfur baths, visit to private baths with a sauna and hot therapeutic waters, massages, and peeling.
- 20:00 – 23:00 dinner at a famous Georgian restaurant.
Day 5: Transfer to the airport (20 km)
- late transfer from the hotel to the airport

- David Gareja – the famous complex of rock monasteries, carved out in the 6th century, right on the border with Azerbaijan and lunch in the town of Udabno on the steppes in an atmospheric restaurant serving specialties of Svan cuisine
