Expedition overview
Day 0:
- arrival in Tbilisi in the late evening
Day 1: Tbilisi Airport – Tbilisi sightseeing (20 km)
- arrival in Tbilisi, hotel accommodation, time to rest
- 11:00 – 14:00 after breakfast at the hotel, sightseeing in the old town, walk along Rustaveli Shota Avenue, Sioni Cathedral and Anchiskhati Basilica, cable car ride to the Narikala Fortress with a wonderful view of the city, walk to the waterfall located in the city center, in the district sulfur baths
- 14:00 – 16:00 lunch in the city with local dishes
- 16:00 – 20:00 free time in the city to buy souvenirs and For those interested (optional) a visit to the famous Tbilisi sulfur baths, a visit to private baths with a sauna and hot health waters, massages and peeling
- 20:00 – 23:00 welcome dinner at a famous restaurant, combined with a show of traditional Georgian dances
- return to the hotel for overnight stay in Tbilisi
Day 2: Tbilisi – Ananuri – Tsminda Sameba – Stepantsminda / Gudauri (150 km)
- 08:00 – 09:00 breakfast at the hotel
- 09:00 – 14:00 departure towards the famous Georgian Military Road, connecting Tbilisi with Vladikavkaz
- along the way, a stop at the Ananuri fortress from the 17th century, picturesquely located on the Zhinvali reservoir
- stop at a beautiful viewpoint just before the Jvari Pass (2,395 m above sea level)
- 14:00 – 16:00 lunch in a Georgian house with our local friends with specialties of highlander cuisine and a competition in drinking local moonshine from sheep’s horn
- 16:00 – 19:00 drive to one of the most beautifully situated monasteries in Georgia – Tsminda Sameba, which is located at an altitude of 2,170 m above sea level. at the foot of Mount Kazbek (5033 m above sea level)
- 19:00 – 21:00 return to Stepantsminda / Gudauri, dinner and overnight stay at the hotel
Day 3: Stepantsminda / Gudauri – Mtskheta – Sarajishvili – Tbilisi (170 km)
- 08:00 – 09:00 breakfast at the hotel
- 09:00 – 14:00 sightseeing around Tbilisi – the Jvari Monastery located on the top of a hill, and then the city of Mtskheta, which until the 5th century AD served as the capital, visiting the legendary temple of Svetitskhoveli, the place of coronation and final resting place of the rulers of Georgia
- free time in the city for shopping for souvenirs
- 13:00 – 15:00 lunch near Mtskheta in a restaurant by the river with a famous Georgian chef, author of the famous book “Georgian Taste”
- 15:00 – 18:00 arrival to the capital, visit to the factory of the oldest Georgian brandy Sarajishvili and tasting of XO VIP brandy
- 18:00 – 20:00 arrival at the hotel, accommodation
- 20.00 – 23.00 farewell dinner in the old town
- overnight stay at a hotel in Tbilisi
Day 4: Transfer to the airport (20 km)
- late transfer from the hotel to the airport
