Expedition overview
Day 1: Kutaisi Airport – Kutaisi (65 km)
- arrival in Kutaisi airport and transfer to Kutaisi city, currently the third largest city in Georgia and the capital of the Imereti region, short visit to the old town and Bagrati Cathedral
- hotel accommodation, time to resst
- lunch break on your own
- transfer to two historic and extremely important monasteries for Georgians: Motsameta and Gelati – a medieval monastery complex inscribed on the UNESCO list
- welcome dinner at a local restaurant or Georgian evening: organization of supra – a traditional Georgian feast at a friendly host’s vineyard, combined with tasting of alcohol and local Imereti dishes and live music
- return to Kutaisi and overnight stay at the hotel
Day 2: Kutaisi – Martvili canyon – Okatse canyon – Prometheus Cave – Kutaisi (150 km)
- after breakfast, visit the picturesque Martvili Canyon and a short pontoon cruise
- drive to Okatse Canyon – characterized by impressive cliffs and a deep gorge. Its main attraction is a hanging path at a height of 140 m and a panoramic observation deck.
- transfer to the Prometheus Cave – the largest cave in Georgia open to tourists, almost 1.5 km long, with the lowest point of the cave located 40 m below sea level, with a room with a light illumination show accompanied by Georgian music
- arrival in Kutaisi, dinner at a restaurant with Imeretian cuisine specialties
- overnight stay at a hotel in Kutaisi
Day 3: Kutaisi – Zugdidi – Mestia (260 km)
- after breakfast, drive along the breathtaking road to Svaneti;
- along the way, a stop in Zugdidi at the Dadiani residence – one of the most famous Georgian princely families from the 19th century.
- lunch break on your own
- stop at the extremely impressive dam on the Enguri River
- arrival in Mestia, a city with medieval stone towers and buildings inscribed on the UNESCO list. It is Reinhold Messner’s favorite place along with the mecca of climbers with the unique two-peaked mountain Ushba
- walking in the city, free time
- dinner and overnight stay in guesthouse
Day 4: Mestia – Ushguli – Hatsvali – Mestia (100 km) [OPTIONAL DAY]
- breakfast at the guesthouse
- full-day jeep trip along a narrow and winding mountain route to Ushguli – one of the highest villages in Europe, where time stands still, known for its 37 preserved stone towers dating back to the 9th-12th centuries.
- lunch break on your own
- a lift ride to the Hatsvali viewpoint with a restaurant offering a view of the beautiful panorama of the Svanetian mountains
- return along the mountain serpentine to Mestia
- dinner and overnight stay in guesthouse
Day 5: Mestia – Koruldi lakes – Chalaadi – Mestia (115 km)
- after breakfast, off road jeeps to the Koruldi lakes at an altitude of 2750 m, from where there is a fantastic view
- lunch break/picnic by the lake
- transfer and short trekking to the Chalaadi glacier, approximately 1.5 hours,
- return to Mestia
- dinner and overnight stay in a guesthouse
Day 6: Mestia – Batumi (260 km)
- after breakfast, drive towards Batumi, a bustling Georgian resort on the Black Sea
- lunch break
- visit newly established dendrological park with specimens of fauna and flora imported on special order from all over the world
- arrival in Batumi, hotel accommodation, time to rest
- dinner in a restaurant with Ajarian cuisine specialties
- overnight stay at a hotel in Batumi
Day 7: Batumi
- day off in Batumi
- free time (possibility to walk along the atmospheric streets of the old town and visit the port, take the cable car to the viewpoint, the Ali and Nino monument), lunch
- dinner in a restaurant with Ajarian cuisine specialties
- overnight stay at a hotel in Batumi
Day 8: Batumi – Mirveti – Makhuntseti – Batumi (100 km)
- breakfast at the hotel, free time and sunbathing
- around noon, a trip to the Adjara mountains, to the waterfalls and to the supra in the vineyard
- driving along a captivating route to the Makhuntseti and Mirveti waterfalls and visiting medieval stone bridges, visit to a vineyard located in the mountains of Adjara, from which there is a beautiful view of the surrounding area; tasting of local alcohols, lunch with traditional Adjarian dishes
- evening return and overnight stay at the hotel in Batumi
Day 9: Batumi
- breakfast at the hotel, free time and sunbathing
- optional trip to the Botanical Garden with beautiful specimens of plants from all climatic zones
- return to Batumi, evening tour of the old town and pub crawl,
- dinner at a local restaurant with regional dishes
- overnight stay at a hotel
Day 10: Batumi – Transfer to Kutaisi Airport (150 km)
- transfer to the airport

In Short
- Kutaisi – The third largest city in Georgia, known from mythology with the story of the Argonauts and the search for the golden fleece. The capital of the Imereti region with a charming old town and the majestic Bagrati Cathedral of 1003 rising above the city
- Gelati – located near Kutaisi with three churches and an academy of sciences. The complex dates to the golden times of the Georgian monarchy and is still a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Near Gelati there is the Mocameta Monastery – located in the gorge of the Tskalcitela River
- Batumi – also called “little Dubai”, the second largest city and the capital of the Adjara region. The Black Sea pearl of Georgia, which fascinates everyone with its views of the sea and mountains
- Okatse Canyon – characterized by impressive cliffs and a deep gorge. Its main attraction is a hanging path at a height of 140 m and a panoramic observation deck. A short off road through Dadiani Park
- Martvili Canyon – visiting the picturesque and deeply cut Martwili canyon on the Abasha River, its impressive rock formations, waterfalls and blue lakes creating unforgettable landscapes, a short pontoon cruise around the meanders of the deep canyon
- Shekvetili Dendrological Park – The most famous dendrological park in Georgia with unique specimens of trees from all over the Caucasus and specially imported plants from around the world
- Dadiani Palace – the residence of one of the most famous Georgian families princely houses from the 19th century.
- Enguri – an arch dam on the Enguri River in the western part of the country near Abkhazeti. Height 272 m and length 728 m. Launched in 1987 and in terms of height it is on the list of the largest reservoirs in the world
- Mestia and Svaneti – a region known for fantastic landscapes, unspoilt nature, unique folklore, cultural treasures and brave highlanders living in stone tower
- Ushguli – one of the highest situated villages in Europe with 37 stone residential and defensive towers, included on the UNESCO list, with a view of the highest peak in Georgia – Shkkhara 5193 m above sea level
